What’s so special about a baby?
And, how can some baby save us?!!
When you think about being saved from something or someone
-you think - you know - you need someone or something strong!
A baby’s weak!
Some of you - especially, you young guys - are afraid to even hold a baby!
You’re afraid it’s going to break - or the head will fall off!
Right? How many of you are afraid to hold a baby?
A baby is a weak thing - it can’t save anything or anyone
-it needs to be saved
Yet, Jesus was to save the world! That’s what Christmas is about
Matthew 1:21
She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins."
Luke 2:11
Jesus was born a baby - but He became the Savior of the whole world
-from the beginning to the end of history
What did God do?
He used the weakest human form to set out on a mission,
-to accomplish the most difficult task that couldn’t be done by humans
-the baby came here to save us from the guilt of our sin
Galatians 4:4-5
But when the time had fully come, God sent his Son, born of a woman, born under law, 5 to redeem those under law, that we might receive the full rights of sons.
This salvation is not something you or I can accomplish for ourselves
-it’s all God
1 Corinthains 1:25
For the foolishness of God is wiser than man's wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than man's strength.
God proved to us it has to be Him - & He did it with a simple human weakling
-a baby
Of course, He grew to manhood & then went on to die on the cross
Romans 5:6-8
You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. 7 Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous man, though for a good man someone might possibly dare to die. 8 But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Salvation has to do with being saved when this life is over
-hell is our natural destiny due to our sin
-heaven is where we get to go when we’re saved
As our little story went - Sally shared this good news with her family
-she prayed for them
-she had found the peace of knowing Jesus & experiencing His Salvation
-for her own life - she wanted the rest of her family to join her
-someday in heaven
You’re here this morning in church - are you certain of your faith in Jesus
-to be your Savior?
-it was just a little baby born - yet - because it was Jesus - God’s Son
-He was able to accomplish our salvation - by dying for us
-that’s so simple - yet, so not like what we’d do in our weak strength
-in our own way - we try to save ourselves
-we try to overcome our sin with our good
-we try to be real religious
-we try to believe real hard
-& we keep trying more & more, to be good people
-this was God’s way - through the birth of a simple baby

Is your faith in Jesus to be your Savior?
1 Corinthains 1:18; 27-31
For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
27 But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. 28 He chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things — and the things that are not — to nullify the things that are, 29 so that no one may boast before him. 30 It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God — that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption. 31 Therefore, as it is written: "Let him who boasts boast in the Lord."
As the song went:

But this baby made the angels sing,
And this baby made a new star shine in the sky.
This baby had come to change the world.
This baby was God’s own son, this baby was like no other one.
This baby was God with us, this baby was Jesus.
Make sure you are trusting & receiving this gift of Christmas - Jesus the Savior!
